Introduced by Dedale in September, 2007 during the Emergences previous edition, SmartCity project is a vast program of reflection and creation articulated around the concept of 'intelligent city'. Officially launched within the framework of Emergences 2008, SmartCity intends, in the long term, to spread out in France and in several other European countries.
At the forefront of the new manners and last technological progresses, SmartCity suggests transforming urban space - inside which crystallize numerous society problems - in privileged place of experiment.
Artists, researchers, architects, thinkers, politics, industrialists, engineers, activists are invited to imagine new appropriation forms of urban space and, making it, to define an alternative vision of the city, which gives to the inhabitants a central role.
SmartCity discerns four additional axes of investigation:
1) City, nature and sustainable development
2) New architectures and urban design
3) Communication and urban mobility(ies)
4) To Live together, new agoras, new citizen spaces.
