Emergences, the major rendez-vous of electronic cultures and new art forms in Europe
International festival dedicated to electronic cultures and emerging artistic forms, Emergences brings together, every year in Paris, French and international actors in digital creation (cultural centers, art groups, research labs, multimedia production firms...). The programme is based on a prolific and international artistic program at the crossroad between performing & visual arts, multimedia, design, architecture and electronic music.
Resolutely multidisciplinary event, Emergences shows an open culture, in movement, between visual arts, multimedia, design, architecture and electronic musics.
Each year, this festival investigates new artistic grounds through a theme (in 2002 'cabaret technologique', in 2004 'la folie', in 2005 l'intime', in 2006 'Jouez!'; in 2007 and 2008 'SmartCity').
Projects selection is partially made on the basis of a permanent call for proposals. At the same time, according to selectionned themes, call for proposals for specific projects can complete them.
Since four years, Emergences develops art ties with two other French digital art festivals, 'Les Nuits électroniques de l'Ososphère' (Strasbourg) and 'Seconde Nature' (Aix-en-Provence). These relationships are made of simultaneously programme network creations and performances, digital experiments, live retransmissions and ephemeral radio broadcasted during both events and also of a creation in 2006 by Plug-In, a co-production platform of multimedia projects.
Emergences shows the outcome of cultural and artistic development set up all the year by the association Dedale with the actors of the multimedia artistic creation.
